The man felt excited having the smartest parrot, but he could not understand why the parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano; however, the bird kept not saying the word.
At first, the man was very nice to the bird, but then he got very angry. "You stupid bird!" pointed the man to the parrot. "Why can't you say the word? Say Catano! Or I will kill you!" the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to teach, the parrot would not say it. Then the man got so angry and shouted to the bird over and over, "Say Catano or I'll kill you." The bird kept not saying the word of Catano.
One day, after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano, the man really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and threw it into the chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner. "You are as stupid as the chickens. Just stay with them," said the man angrily. Then he continued to humble, "You know, I will cut the chicken for my meal. Next it will be your turn. I will eat you too, stupid parrot." After that he left the chicken house.
The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door and was very surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house. There were three dead chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was standing proudly and screaming at the last old chicken, "Say Catano or I'll kill you."

It took an hour to get there. There were already some contestants when we arrived. The competition would start in an hour.
First, my teacher and I went to the dressing room. My teacher helped me do the make-up and the costume. We spent almost an hour for the preparation. I told my teacher that I was really nervous. I was not ready for this. However, she told me that everything was alright, and I felt better.
Then, the time came for me to perform on stage. There were five judges and about two hundred people watching me. However, I did not feel nervous anymore. I performed on the stage confidently. I really did the best I could. I was glad when it ended well.
After that, we waited for the announcement of the result. It was 4 p.m. when the judges finished making their final decision. I was so impatient to hear the result. I still could not believe when they called my name as the first winner. I was so happy to be given the trophy. My teacher was also proud of my achievement. TEXT 8
This following text is for questions 39 to 42

In this modern era, there are still some parents who are reluctant about sending their daughters to college. The narrow attitude shown to women's education is largely due to the traditional role of women in society. A woman is expected to be a wife and a mother. Most parents believe that if their daughters get married and choose to be housewives, then the higher education will be a waste. However, an educated woman is not only a better wife but also contributes something to the society.
Nowadays, more and more women are successfully combining their career and marriage. Educated women are richer both emotionally and financially. They are able to find an outlet for their monotonous drudgery of their housekeeping. They bring more satisfaction and contentment to their lives.
Depriving girls of higher education is crash discrimination. Times have changed; modern society needs the talents of its people regardless of gender. Today, women work alongside men. In fact, in the last few decades, women have made outstanding contributions to society.
Women should be given the freedom to be educated whether or not they get married or to go to work after finishing their education because it is only through education that a woman will find herself useful and discover what she wants in life. Second, children may also be influenced by people they don't know. Although most children are taught not to talk to strangers, we would be surpassed how many actually do. Third, kids are mostly influenced by their parents, because parents are people that kids really mostly trust. They tend to be like them. Parents play a big role in children's life. If a kid sees his or her parents fight all the time at home, it will probably make him or her become rude.
